ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದ ನೀರಿನ ಟಬ್‌ ನೊಳಗೆ ಮಗುವೊಂದು ಬಿದ್ದು ಮೃತಪಟ್ಟಿರುವ ಘಟನೆ ಕನಕಪುರ ನಗರದ ಮೆಳೆಕೋಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದಿದೆ.

ನಗರಸಭೆಯಿಂದ ಎರಡು ದಿನಗಳಿಗೊಮ್ಮೆ ಅರ್ಧ ತಾಸು ನೀರು ಬಿಡುವುದರಿಂದ ನೀರಿನ ಅಭಾವ ನೀಗಿಸಲು ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಪಾತ್ರೆ, ಟಬ್‌, ನೀರಿನ ಡ್ರಮ್‌ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರು ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಶನಿವಾರ ಮಗು ಬಿದ್ದು ಮೃತಪಟ್ಟಿದೆ.

ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಜ್ಜಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಆಟವಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಮಗುವು ಅಜ್ಜಿಯ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ ಟಬ್‌ವೊಳಗೆ ಬಿದ್ದಿದೆ. ಈ ವೇಳೆ ಅಜ್ಜಿಯು ಮಗುವನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸದೆ ಮನೆಯಿಂದ ಹೊರ ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಸಮಯವಾದರೂ ಮಗುವಿನ ಸದ್ದು ಕೇಳದಿದ್ದಾಗ ಒಳಗಡೆ ಹೋಗಿ ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಮಗು ಟಬ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ನೀರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮೃತಪಟ್ಟಿರುವುದು ಗೊತ್ತಾಗಿದೆ.

ಸಣ್ಣ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿರುವ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಂಕಿ ನೀರು ಕುರಿತಂತೆ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಜಾಗೃತೆ ವಹಿಸುವ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿದೆ. ತೆರೆದ ಪಾತ್ರೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರು ತುಂಬಿಸಿಡುವುದು ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಅಪಾಯಕಾರಿ. ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾದಷ್ಟು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಪಾತ್ರೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರು ತುಂಬಿಸಿಟ್ಟರೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚುವ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಸೂಕ್ತ.
